ANZAC Day 2011 fast approaching, the RSL (Queensland Branch) is once again planning its ANZAC Appeal to raise vital funds for welfare services for veterans and those still currently serving.
On Thursday April 21, RSL (Queensland Branch) and an army of volunteers will storm the city to sell ANZAC merchandise to commemorate ANZAC Day and raise welfare funds.
RSL (Queensland Branch) is looking for volunteers to join with them in taking to the streets to raise these funds.
Without the help of enthusiastic volunteers, not as much ground can be covered, and not as many funds raised.
Like any not-for-profit, RSL (Queensland Branch) relies on the generosity of Queenslanders to help achieve results for the veteran and currently serving community.
With this in mind, RSL (Queensland Branch), would once again like to ask members of the public and members of the defence force to pitch in and help their mates on April 21.
Volunteers are needed from early morning, with shifts running throughout the day.
And this year, for the first time, RSL (Queensland Branch) will be commemorating the lives of its members by using the theme Ordinary People, Extraordinary Stories.
Four badges have been created in honour of the three services and women in war, featuring the unique story and face of a member of the RSL.
These badges give the public an opportunity to celebrate with the RSL, the feats achieved by RSL members, and their significant contributions to history and the Australia that we live in today.
Money raised from these badges will fund emergency accommodation for those who find themselves in need, and the pensions, advocacy and welfare services program run throughout the RSL (Queensland Branch).
