RSL (Queensland Branch) President Doug Formby AM discusses the success of the League's 2010 State Congress where the need for younger leadership was raised, among other issues.

The growing need for younger volunteer advocates trained in the areas of pensions and compensation was highlighted at the 95th RSL State Congress held at the weekend.

Over 400 delegates, leaders and guests from around the state attended the annual supreme policy-making forum of the League in Queensland.

RSL Queensland President Doug Formby has been formally recognised for years of service to both veterans and the wider community, receiving the Member of the Order of Australia as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Mr Formby has served as Queensland President of the RSL since 2006 following a decorated military career and experience at not-for-profit organisations such as Legacy and the RSPCA.

The 95th RSL State Congress will focus on younger leadership and positive change when over 400 delegates, leaders and guests from around Queensland meet in Townsville later this month.

The RSL State Congress is the annual supreme policy-making forum of the League in Queensland, where views of both current and ex-service personnel at all levels are debated.
