In 2007, RSL (Queensland Branch) and Bond University joined forces to offer the half-million dollar RSL Youth Development Program, in what was a significant boost to the RSL's commitment to the youth of Queensland and Australia.

Now in its fourth year, over 400 Queensland students have benefited from the RSL Youth Development Program.

Who is eligible?

In 2011 the RSL Youth Development Program will award 180 of Queensland's most exceptional Year 10 and 11 students the opportunity to share in over $500,000 to support them in pursuing their academic and sporting endeavours in their final years of school.

Grants will be awarded to current Year 10 and Year 11 students entering Year 11 or Year 12 in the following categories:

  • Academic Achievement (inclusive of Arts, Drama, Dance, Media & Design)
  • Sporting Achievement
  • Community Leadership and Civic Participation

Winners will receive grants of $2,500 and the top 10 percent of the highest achieving finalists will receive greater recognition via a $5,000 grant.

Recipients will also have an exclusive opportunity to apply for a scholarship worth 50 percent of tuition fees to study either a single or combined degree at Bond University at the completion of high school.

Applications are now open and close November 11, 2010 for 2011.

Students can apply for the program by completing an online application form detailing their academic, sporting and/or community achievements at www.RSLyouth.com.au.  Students are also required to submit their resume, a personal reference, and a statement about the importance of ANZAC values and the RSL to Australia's youth.
