The 96th RSL (Queensland Branch) Annual General Meeting and State Congress will be held in Brisbane over the weekend of June 17-19.
Hosted by the Brisbane North District, this year’s forum will once again see delegates from all over Queensland come together for three days to discuss the important issues facing the RSL.
The forum is an opportunity for delegates to represent members at a grass roots level in their community to express their thoughts, ideas and concerns to the wider RSL community.
A focus on new leadership and positive change will feature predominantly at this year’s Annual General Meeting and State Congress.
Delegates will also debate how to increase membership among serving men and women, engagement with the community, ongoing welfare needs of veterans, advocacy needs for both the service and ex-service community, and how the League can better support Australian Defence Force personnel overseas.
With Doug Formby AM stepping down, this year’s forum will bring a new State President to the RSL (Queensland Branch). Each Sub Branch in attendance will be asked to vote for their President of their choice. With approximately 34,000 members across Queensland this decision will play a significant part the future of the RSL (Queensland Branch) and is highly significant to its membership.
Since the election of Doug Formby AM as RSL (Queensland Branch) President in 2006, there have been many changes made to how the RSL operates and how the RSL is viewed by the public.
The core business of RSL (Queensland Branch) has been, and will continue to be, aimed towards the welfare of the service and ex-service community.
Approximately 400 RSL (Queensland Branch) delegates, leaders and guests from around the State will gather in Bulimba on June 17 for the official opening ceremony.
