The coming days will see the Australian Army celebrate 110 years of serving our nation, with birthday festivities well underway.

A commemorative service kicked off the event on March 1, at the Pool of Remembrance at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
Celebrations also included a birthday breakfast with a special birthday cake being made for the Army to celebrate this significant milestone.
To commemorate their 110th birthday, the Australian Army has also released a special 110th Anniversary Medallion, designed by Army Reservist, Private Joel Shaddock.
Throughout these celebrations, the hard work of our Army personnel has been remembered, both as a military force and as a respected national institution that the RSL (Queensland Branch) is proud to support and emulate.
Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Gillespie offered his sincere thanks to the Australian community and its continuing support of the Army’s operations at home and overseas while addressing Canberra based Army personnel and their families.
“We truly appreciate the wonderful support the Australian community affords our Army,” he said.
Canberra based activities will include the launch of two military history books, and will culminate with a public concert Music on the Lawns, to be held at the Australian War Memorial’s Western Courtyard at 6:30pm on Friday, March 4.
Special guests will include the Royal Military College Band, and country music singer, Lee Kernaghan.
Brigades around Australia will be holding their own community birthday events, and anyone interested in sharing in the celebrations should go to www.defence.gov.au
