Defence items available for disposal

Certain defence equipment that has played an important role in the Australian Defence Forces' work around the world is highly sought after for display purposes. They serve as memorials for Australians who have served and paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The Defence Disposals Agency (DDA) has announced that surplus items that will be disposed of in the near future.
Requests to acquire surplus equipment are almost always higher than the numbers of items available for disposal.
Not all equipment withdrawn from service or subject to disposal will be offered for sale and not all equipment will have heritage value.
The preferred approach is to offer items by tender and compare tenders using criteria that attribute value to the preservation of military heritage against revenue to be returned to Defence.
Defence requires a potential recipient to provide evidence of:
  • Historical or symbolic significance in relation to, or link to, the item, or
  • Special significance to the proposed recipient such as compelling reasons to justify its being given to that recipient.
Potential recipients are required to pay all costs relating to its acquisition.
Interested parties should contact DDA directly to record interest in a specific piece of equipment providing:
  • Full contact details
  • Specific details of the item they wish to acquire
  • Description of the intended use of the item
Parties registered with DDA will be notified when the requested items become available for public sale.
