Look beyond the bright lights, piles of presents and Christmas trinkets and you’ll often discover that Christmas offers a time for reflection.

This period of celebration and joy offers a chance to look back at the achievements of the past twelve months.
Over the past weeks across the State, hundreds of Sub Branches gathered in the name of festive cheer and at the same time fondly looked back at the year that was.
On the Sunshine Coast, the Tewantin-Noosa Sub Branch gathered for an afternoon of Christmas celebration and reminiscing with old friends on Thursday December 16 in the Gallipoli Room of the Tewantin-Noosa Club.
More than 50 Sub Branch members got together for a celebratory drink and looked back at what was a very eventful year.
One highlight in particular was the 90th Anniversary Celebrations in August, which many members speak of with pride.
The Sub Branch was formed on August 20, 1920 and its numbers have swelled to more than 500.
Throughout the day, a few tears were shed, especially as Tewantin-Noosa Sub Branch President, Tony Lewis took the time to make a speech and thank all of the members.
“I’m very grateful for the support of the Sub Branch, and the hard work that has been put in this year,” he said.
As we move forward into 2011 there are sure to be many more memories made and the RSL (Queensland Branch) is looking forward to sharing them all with our members and supporters.
The RSL (Queensland Branch) would like to take this opportunity to wish all our members and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
