Housing Assistance

Temporary Accommodation

The financial impact of physical and mental health issues can sometimes lead to the need for short-term housing.

Similarly, if you live in regional or remote areas and need to travel to Brisbane or the Gold Coast for medical treatment or counselling, it can often be a struggle to find affordable accommodation for you and your partners/dependents while you undergo treatment. Futhermore, when the treatment is completed, you may need some ‘time out’ before returning to the routine and pressures of daily life.

To assist in these circumstances, RSL Queensland own and manage two temporary accommodation facilities – Angus House in Toowong, Brisbane and Nui Dat House on the Gold Coast.

Close to hospitals and other amenities, these houses are communal accommodation spaces which, for $20 per night, offer the following facilities:

  • Comfortable private rooms – comprising both single and double rooms, with built-in robes and individual security.
  • Communal kitchen and dining areas – evening meals are prepared for residents, and you have access to breakfast and lunch supplies during the day. You may choose whether to join the group in the dining room or arrange your own meals each evening.
  • Common recreational areas – this includes comfortable indoor and outdoor living areas with lounges, televisions, web-enabled computers and BBQ facilities.

Independent Housing

Access to quality, affordable housing is an issue facing many Australians. We recognise that veterans are not untouched by this issue, so have developed, and operate more, than 80 one and two bedroom fully self-contained housing units across the state.

We allocate this housing on a needs basis, with consideration to your financial circumstances. While you must able to live independently, we take care of the upkeep of the lawns and gardens and general maintenance. We currently own and operate independent living units in Ayr, Cairns, Mareeba, Yeppoon, Emu Park, Mt Perry and Gayndah.
