Nundah-Northgate Sub Branch Inc.
Nundah Northgate RSL Sub Branch offers a warm welcome to ex-serving and currently servicing members of the Australian Defence Force in the local area. The Nundah Northgate Sub Branch is part of the Brisbane North District of RSL Queensland.
Since the Sub Branch was established in 1929, we have been an integral and active part of the community. The Sub Branch still operates as a “Traditional” Sub Branch with no attached club. The hall in Boyd Park has been our home since 2000. The Sub Branch has been actively involved in maintaining and upgrading war memorials in Nundah Memorial Park and Nundah Historic Cemetery, including a WWI trophy German artillery gun which has been restored. We hold ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day and the Battle of Milne Bay Memorial Services each year and enjoy great support and participation from the community at these Services.
We provide assistance and social connection to local ex and currently serving ADF personnel.
We work with local schools to help educate students on our military history and encourage active participation in Memorial Services and researching our history.
We support two Cadet Units.
We are a relatively small but very active Sub Branch, providing a place for members to meet and socialize.
Although Nundah Northgate Sub Branch does not have a Veteran Services Officer we are able to assist veterans with some welfare enquires and can refer current and ex-service personnel to an appropriate Advocate who will provide assistance.
Various social activities and outings are arranged throughout the year.
The Sub Branch is open on Mondays and Wednesdays and all are welcome to drop in for a cuppa and a chat. While our hall is not officially open every day, you will often find someone in the office and all Committee Members are always available. We maintain a free self-serve library for members’ use.
On occasion other not for profit community groups hold meetings or functions in our hall.
Meetings are held every second month, commencing on the third Wednesday in February each year at 12.00pm starting with a light lunch. December’s meeting is Christmas lunch.
