Veteran Dependant Scholarships

If your parents or grandparents served in the Australian Defence Force, you could be eligible for an RSL Veteran Dependant Scholarship to help you with your studies.

Open to the children (or grandchildren) of ex-Defence members who have been impacted by Defence life, our scholarships provide financial support to help you gain a tertiary qualification. 

Applications are managed by the Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust.

Applications for our 2024 intake have now closed. Applications will reopen for our 2025 intake from 18 August 2024 to 31 October 2024.

The RSL Queensland Scholarship funding amount to recipients is $4,000 annually for up to three calendar years. The maximum total Scholarship funding amount is $12,000.

Children of grandchildren of ex-serving ADF personnel are eligible to apply.

In your application, you will need to include:

  • Information about yourself and the ex-serving ADF member you are related to, including service history
  • Your academic results and background
  • Details of your family’s financial situation
  • Demonstration of hardship experienced as a result of the veteran's military service.

Ongoing eligibility criteria also apply.

The Veteran Dependant Scholarships program is managed by the Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust (AVCAT) on behalf of RSL Queensland. Contact AVCAT directly with any questions.
