RSL Queensland 2020 AGM

2020 RSL Queensland State AGM

2020 was a year like no other, presenting challenges for Australians and Australian organisations all over the country. RSL Queensland was not exempt from these challenges – however with the incredible contribution and support from members, RSL Queensland was able to stage a first of its kind hybrid Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Representatives from 183 Sub Branches participated in this historic hybrid AGM. This number was representative of 2019 participation, which is an excellent result considering the logistical complications caused by COVID-19.

To control delegate exposure to potential health risks, the meeting was held across six different locations around Queensland, all linked by audio-visual meeting tools.

Voting technology was provided in each location to enable real-time voting on essential business motions. Delegates in each location were given an opportunity to speak for and against motions, facilitated in the same way as a traditional face-to-face meeting.

During the meeting, Chief Executive Officer Melanie Wilson and General Manager Membership & Network Lisa McIlroy spoke about the 2025 Strategy and the new support being rolled out to Sub Branches.

The meeting also saw the election of a new State Deputy President, Wendy Taylor, and provided an opportunity to thank out going State Deputy President John Strachan OAM for his significant contributions during his time on the RSL Queensland Board.

The Board was ever conscious of the important issues at hand for the organisation, and as a result decided to delay ANY vote on the draft 2020 Constitution until such time as we can meet and debate this important decision in a face-to-face setting. These matters are at the forefront of planning for the 2021 AGM and we look forward to updating members in due course.

Minutes to the 2020 AGM can be found below.
