2022 Director Election

At the RSL Queensland Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on June 25, 2022, Delegates voted to accept proposed changes to the Constitution. The main change is the creation of four new Board positions for Members, nominated and voted on by Delegates of RSL Queensland Sub Branches and Districts.

This page contains the information you, as a Member, need to nominate for the four new Board Directors. There will also be information for Delegates to assist with voting in the election.

This page will be updated throughout the election.

Director Elections 2022 - RSL Queensland

nominations (July 1 to August 25)

Nominations for the four new Board Directors of RSL Queensland are now open. We encourage you to review the position descriptions for the four Director roles and nominate yourself if you can demonstrate the skills and experience required.

The position descriptions for Director role can be downloaded by clicking on the links below:

The nomination form is the same for all Director positions and can be downloaded here.

Please note you must indicate which Director position you are nominating for in the form.

More detailed information on the essential and desirable skills required for a Director role can be found in the Board Skills Matrix

All candidate nominations will be received by RSL Queensland and forwarded to the Nominations and Remuneration Committee. The Nominations and Remuneration Committee will then request the RSL Queensland Tribunal to advise if the candidate is 'in good standing' with the membership (for example, are not currently subject to disciplinary action).

Candidates will then be shortlisted by an independent director recruitment specialist. Once they have verified the candidate's skills and experience, as well as determined the candidate is fit and proper for a director role, they will provide the Nomination and Remuneration Committee with a shortlist.

Provided the candidate meets these requirements of being a Veteran, a Member in good standing, and has the skills and experience for the role, their nomination will be recommended to the RSL Queensland Board. The committee and Board are solely responsible for checking the validity of candidates.

Candidates will be published here on this page on September 16 when voting opens. Instructions for voting will be provided to your Sub Branch via email.

If there is only one eligible candidate for a specific Director position, that candidate will be determined as appointed in accordance with the Transition Provisions in the Constitution.

If there is more than one eligible candidate for a Director position, Delegates will vote in an election to determine the successful candidate for each role. Eligible candidates will be published here on this page when voting opens on September 16 and instructions for voting will be provided to your Sub Branch Delegate via email.

Delegates will be taken to be the same as those that were appointed and registered for the RSL Queensland AGM on 25 June 2022.

If Sub Branches or Districts would like to update their Delegate, they will need to hold a meeting, pass a resolution appointing a new Delegate, and provide an extract of the minutes to companysecretary@rslqld.org. For more information, speak to your District Secretary.

Each District and Sub Branch will have a single vote for each of the Director roles requiring an election. Your Sub Branch will need to hold a meeting to allow Members the opportunity to instruct their delegate which of the eligible candidates to vote for. Voting will be open for six weeks from September 16.

The ballot closes on Thursday October 27, 2022, at 5pm and votes are tallied immediately.

If there is an equal number of votes for candidates running for any one Director role, further ballots will be provided to Sub Branches for a re-vote on the tied positions.

Otherwise, the candidates with the most votes for each of the Director roles will be appointed and the previous board discharged.
